Right Cocktail Dress For Your Figure

Your body shape decides the dress you will wear. Just like other styles of dresses such as prom dresses, you should choose your cocktail dresses according to your body shape. If you think a cocktail dress is nice, that does not mean you will look amazing on that dress.

Full Bust
Look for v-neck or u-neck dresses that draw the eye downward. Choose full or pleated skirts also help draw the eye downward.

Apple Body Shape
Look for empire waist dresses (fitted at bust and looser around waist and hips). Choose fluid shapes floating away from your narrowest point below the waist. Look for unique embellished necklines or sleeves to draw the eye upwards.

Pear Body Shape
Choose dresses with dark colors on the hips. Look for a-line or full skirts. Show off collarbones with strapless or open-neck dresses. Style with fitted, embellished or ruched bodices.

Hourglass Body Shape
Embrace your curves. Select wrap dresses or other styles fitted at the waist especially with belt, tie or drawstring.

Straight Body Shape
A sleek, fitted sheath dress will showcase your streamlined shape. Try baby-doll or a-line styles to give the illusion of curves. Look for dresses with a feature at the top, such as embroidery, beading or ruching along neckline and bust.

Rectangle Shape
For females with such a body type, highlighting your waist while choosing your cocktail dress would be a great way to look sexy and sassy. For this, it is a great option to choose wrap or surplice tops. Another choice for you can be to go for coordinated skirt and top, instead of opting for a proper cocktail dress. In case you wish to go for a dress, then include a jeweled or sequined belt, which will define your waistline.

Tips For All Body Types
Wear your clothes; don't let them wear you! If you're constantly fussing with your clothes, then your clothes are wearing you. Your outfits should be carefree and stress-free. Before picking a cocktail dress, evaluate your body type. Instead of blindly following the trend, opt for a dress, which is elegant, comfortable, and suits you.

DO NOT Wear the Following this Holiday Season

You know who you are... so you can finally wear your collection of Santa Claus tops and your children are still not speaking to you after you made the entire family dress like Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer for the family holiday card.So put down the elf shoes you bought last year at Target and for the stake of all that is fashionable, DO NOT:

   1. use the holiday season as the opportunity to dress in red from head to toe.
   2. wear bells on any clothing, shoes, handbags, etc.
   3. decide to scratch your crafting itch by knitting everyone a Christmas sweater
   4. overdose on corduroy pants (please, for all that is good and right in this world, resist the urge to wear the printed turtleneck WITH the corduroy pants)
   5. sport a turtleneck top with prints of little Christmas trees, leaves, elves, etc.

2013 Winter Boot Trends

Dressy Boot

Boots are great for battling snow and other harsh weather extremes, but they also have a dressier side. So when it comes to cocktail parties, romantic dates, and theatre premieres, ditch your riding boots for a style with a little more personality to match your party dress. Whether it's with a sophisticated pattern or a high metallic heel, look for pops of unexpected elegance, like these boots.

Animal Skin

Every year we're told that animal print is back "in." But really, does it ever go out of style? Python skin is particularly popular right now, says celebrity stylist Phillip Bloch. This season, add interest to your animal style with a leopard print or snakeskin bootie. Go faux for a cheaper and more animal-friendly option.

Ankle Bootie

Bordeaux red, forest green, and cobalt blue are some of the hottest hues right now. They come in a variety of styles, from wedges and stacked platforms to pin thin stiletto heels. Find a pair you'll be the most comfortable in...

Rocker Boot

Chunky black boots with lots of hardware, like buckles, studs, and heavy zippers, are everywhere this winter.

Textured Boot

Leather boots can get BO-RING. After all, everyone owns a pair -- it's a wardrobe staple. Instead, look for boots with a different kind of texture, like velvet, satin, or lace.

Choose Suitable Party Shoes for Your Dancing Feet

As the winter is coming, there are more and more parties for you, choosing a beautiful party evening dresses is the most important thing. Have you chosen your dresses? Which shoes is suitable for your prom dresses?

When searching for the ferfect pair of lady shoes for party, the first thing to take into account is your personal style. It's a good idea to get less glamorous shoes for dresses that have a lot of flashiness or detail, and eye-catching or elaborate shoes for plainer dresses. A simple black dress can be accommodated with a simple pair or black patent shoes for women or can also be further enhanced with red or pink party shoes. Besides, as you decide to wear short party evening dress , then your shoes will be totally exposed to the public, strapped sandals or high heels might be the better choice. Find complementary colors or a shoe color that's slightly darker than the dress color. Neutral colors also work well: gold, silver, or white for lighter dresses, and black or gray for darker dresses. Black party shoes will go with most colours of dresses, so this is a safe choice if you are a bit unsure. The days of matching the color of your shoes to your handbag are long over.

Evenybody want to ensure their party shoes look the part and attract the attention of admirers, although style, color, and correspondence to your outfit are important, the comfort level of your party shoes is just as imperative. Because you can't go to a party without hitting the dance floor. So make sure your feet will be able to stand the test of time in your chosen party shoes. If you're not a heel veteran, it might be wiser to choose a shoe that's closer to the ground so you're as comfortable as possible. A little height is always good but don't choose a pair of stilettos if you are really not used to wearing them.

Holidays and family engagements are a great time to express yourself to the people you care about most. There are plenty of fashion-forward styles of shoes that will have you looking stylish and wholesome. Trendy ballet flats are the best way feel dressed up without feeling overdressed - or overexposed.

There's Never One Way to Wear a Little Black Dress

Beachy Retreat
Having a date night with a new beau? Dinner on the coast, and then drinks on the beach at night ... probably somewhere tropical like Hawaii or the coast of Miami?? High low dress trend is perfect if you are short but love the elegance of a maxi dress. The sheer black fabric is sexy and can still be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. Since it is a black dress, and the location is a beach setting, you should use pops of color to make the look flirty, and not too serious. A chunky, bold statement necklace is perfect for an LBD. Subtle earrings and a bold clutch complete the look. And of course you need a flower accessory to complement sultry hair waves.

Paris at Night
I am going out for a night on the town, preferably Paris on a night where it's lightly drizzling, kind of like that scene where Big meets Carrie in the final season of "Sex and the City." Pearls are classy, always fashionable, and just a tad bit preppy. It adds an extra kiss of girly glam. A natural smoky eye is perfect for any occasion, and it can easily go from a day to night look.

Birthday Blowout
Like simple silhouettes?  This tank dress is effortlessly chic. It strikes the perfect balance of casual, but cute -- without being too sexy. Statement necklace is one piece but it can make you look fancy instantly. Since you pick with a bold bib necklace the only other piece you can paired with it was a simple gold cuff. Retro waves are classically beautiful and the perfect party hairstyle. A bold statement lip and a pop of gold eyes, which ties in the gold accessories is perfect for the all look.

Drinks with the Girls
Going to a cocktail party with my girlfriends? If you want something upscale and special; something wouldn't wear on just any given Friday, this little black dress is you choice. Gold watch  can add some color and sparkle to this simple black dress and it was a good attention grabber. Clutch helps bring the watch and shoes together to give it a complete look and also because the clutch really took the dress from casual to upscale. If you don't want something uptight and serious because you are young and want to have fun in my LBD, ponytail or loose updo is good choice. Stuck with a lighter complexion and darker eyes is dramatic enough to go with an upscale LBD but not too much.

By now we've come to terms with the fact that ponytails aren't just for the gym anymore! Check out our tutorial for getting Kristen's edgy-chic 'do, then smudge some burgundy shadow around your eyes and pair with a deep-red lip.

Lust List: Petal Power

Mary Katrantzou Sugarcane Scarf
Bold and graphic prints are easiest when done in small doses. Dip your toe into the trendy pool with a showstopper scarf.

Christopher Kane Clematis Leather Clutch
Replace an old-school corsage with decoration that looks just as sweet (minus the scent). This leather clutch is a fun twist to the regular, hard-bodied evening bag.

Victoria's Secret Pink Multi-Way Total Sweetheart Bra
Blossom all over with this pretty bra. Bonus: The halter tie feels and looks like a bikini strap, so you don't have to be shy about showing off this floral print.

Tapetti Kitten Heels
Small print florals are just as chic as ostentatious blooms! Try it on smaller accessories like these dainty kitten heels rather than tops or frocks.

Betsey Johnson Flower Toggle Bracelet
Tend a desk-side garden with this enameled wrist-pick.

Shoshanna Barbados Bikini
Flaunt some sexy skin in a very sweet petite floral print.

Black Nail Pop

Forget the bags, the shoes. For the nail polish obsessed, the best accessory for fall is lacquer. So what shades generated the most buzz at fashion week? Plenty of people disagree with me. I still see it out and about on women here in New York on a daily basis.

Think deep, dark variations of red and navy offset by cool tones of minimalist white and beige. The bigger moments of drama belonged to pop-art effects and touches of texture (leather nails!) worn in an unexpected way.
